Growing up in Bloomington, Alexis left Indiana for several years to pursue a career in meteorology in New England. Surrounded by the colorful beauty of the mountains, ocean, and ever-changing clouds, they were inspired to try their hand at painting. Working primarily with acrylics, they especially enjoyed the striking bursts of color the medium allowed them to create.

After relocating back to Bloomington, their creative interests shifted toward woodworking. They began turning bowls and boxes and crafting small pieces of furniture, enjoying the way magnificent grain patterns emerged as the wood came to life. But something was missing—the color.

That changed when they began experimenting with smaller lathe-turned pieces and discovered the vivid hues possible with epoxy and resin. Suddenly, woodworking and color could exist together, opening the door to an entirely new creative process.

Today, their work centers around creating fine writing instruments and other hand-turned pieces, with each item carefully crafted with both aesthetics and ergonomics in mind. Materials are thoughtfully selected for quality and include assorted woods and custom resin pours. Dyes and pigments create one-of-a-kind patterns with layers of depth and movement, while wood, fossils, seashells, and other natural elements are often incorporated into the work.

They especially enjoy the challenge of bringing unexpected materials to life in a new form. Transforming unusual or meaningful objects into beautiful, functional, and tactile writing instruments has become a particular passion—giving something personally significant a new purpose that can be held, used, and enjoyed.
