NEEDLE FELTING

Felting adorable animal creations inspired by children’s books and greeting cards.

Artist Kelly Graham needle-felts adorable animals inspired by children's books and greeting cards.

Kelly started her craft in the late 90s as a Mohair Bear Artist. She worked designing and making one-of-a-kind Teddy bears for almost 15 years under the name of Ted E Graham Originals.

Kelly enjoys working with all the different colors and textures available in Mohair. She was introduced to needle felting during this time and incorporated it into her Teddy Bears on their face and paws.

Kelly had knee surgeries that made it difficult for her to sit at the sewing machine, so she began experimenting with needle felting and fell in love with the process. Kelly tries to mix it up with her creations, but her favorites are her rabbits, pigs, and bears. Several special orders have challenged her, but Kelly finds working outside her comfort zone is fun.

Kelly gets her inspiration from many illustrated children's books and greeting cards. She makes all her pieces out of solid wool with various colored roving and German glass eyes.

Kelly moved to Bloomington, Indiana, from Denver, Colorado, in 2014 after her husband and she retired to be closer to their oldest daughter and grandkids who live in Ellettsville.
